On January 8, 2025, Beijing Bolken Energy Technology Inc. in collaboration with Hangzhou City University successfully conducted the maiden test flight of China's first hydrogen fuel cell range extended electric aircraft. This aircraft employs a hydrogen-electric hybrid powertrain that combines high energy density with environmental advantages, achieving a full-load range exceeding 60 kilometers, making it suitable for urban short-distance commuting. This represents the first implementation of this technology in China's large-sized flying vehicle sector. The vehicle is not a traditional "flying car" but is professionally classified as an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Its takeoff and landing procedures resemble those of helicopters, requiring no extended runway for vertical operations. (Source: Sina Finance)
